Happiness is not as elusive as many make it out to be. It does not need to be that hard to be happy. I always ask my potential clients what they want to find. The majority of the time they answer: “I want to be happy. I want things to be easier.” Happiness is also about perception, how you see your life or your joy. It is also about what you do to create that happiness. Yet there are some very simple steps you can implement to create more happiness in your life right away.

5 Steps for Happiness

1. Smile more. Studies have shown that when you turn the corners of your mouth up in a smile that your brain actually makes the “feel good” chemical serotonin. Serotonin is a naturally occurring chemical in the brain (a neurotransmitter) that is thought to be a contributor to feelings of well-being and happiness. Just sitting and raising the corners of your mouth can elevate your mood.

2. Think Less. Over thinking things or spending time in worry will make you feel stress or anxiety and that will draw you away from your natural state of joy. So stop the worry thinking.

3. Be Present. Instead of living in the past or the future, be present now. By being present in the moment, you will feel more connected and find happiness easier.

4. Have Gratitude. Be in gratitude for what you do have and that will create more abundance and joy in the present. You will begin to notice more joy.

5. Be of Service. When we are of service to others, there is little room for depression. Being of service to others also makes you feel good and connects you to your heart.

Make it a point to practice these 5 steps to create more happiness and joy into your life.
