Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone

Life happens when you get out of your comfort zone and try new things, challenge yourself and explore! Too often we get so comfortable with our routines that we forget that there is so much to life that we have yet to discover or things that we have forgotten about. Sometimes it is fear that holds us back. Fear of doing it wrong, looking funny or not fitting in. So we don’t do it even if we want to do it. I know it sounds pretty crazy but if you think about it, I am sure that you can find an example of when you did not step out of your comfort zone and regretted it.

lifecoach-usa comfort zoneI have always been attracted to people who have confidence. The ones that do things confidently because they want to. They are the ones that seem to have the grand adventures, try new things and find success. Soon I realized I had surrounded myself with confident people. What I have learned about these type of people is that they are always stepping out of their comfort zones. Yes, sometimes it is even uncomfortable for them. They too have that little voice in their head saying: don’t do it you might fail, don’t do it you might look silly. All the same voices we all have. Yet they don’t let that voice stop them. Soon I decided to take that attitude and life got amazing. All the things I had not chosen to try or do because of the comfort zone, I was doing and experiencing.

Every time you step out of your comfort zone it gets easier. Soon the voice becomes a whisper in your mind that you can easily flick away. I choose this video because it shows a young man at an outside music festival. He does not care what anyone else is doing and just starts dancing. That one young man was soon mobbed with a ton of other people wanting to dance. It took one person to go out of the comfort zone to make it possible for the other to join in. It is that simple. When you step out of your comfort zone, you make it possible for others to do the same!

5 Tips to Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone

  1. Shut off that voice that is trying to talk you out of it.
  2. Remind yourself why you want to go out of your comfort zone.
  3. Remember that it gets easier every time.
  4. Challenge yourself to do so and reward yourself when you do.
  5. Ask other to join you in stepping out.

I could stay in my comfort zone and enjoy life the way it is. Yet I know that I want to see, do and learn so much more. There is so much to explore and adventures to be had so I am choosing not to. Now that does not mean I am going to jump out of airplanes but that I will continue to push myself out there more and more. It gets easier and easier. I know that personally, I am having some wonderful adventures in life. I am glad I choose to live my life fully and not stay stuck where I was. I challenge you to join me outside of the comfort zone and try doing something new this week! I would love to hear what you have chosen to do!
