I get a lot of messages from people asking me to tell them how to be happy. Things in their lives are not going the way they want them to. Or they feel like there is more to life than they are doing. Some just want me to give them the steps to follow so they can be happy.
Now I am not saying these folks are extremely unhappy, facing financial ruin or extreme health problems. No, these are normal people, when looking into their lives from the outside, they look happy and satisfied. Some have successful careers, others families and some are making a huge difference in the world.
The one thing they have in common, they are looking outside of themselves for happiness. Happiness does not exist from the outside. It comes from within.
In order to be happy, you need to have self acceptance. This is when you realize that there is nothing wrong with you, you are created perfect and that all that you need to have, you do, inside of you
When we spend time putting ourselves down, feeling not good enough, not ready, not smart enough, not pretty enough, etc. We stop believing in ourselves and we loose our true connection to happiness.
When we believe in ourselves and know that we are just fine the way we are, we can begin to be happy. You can always grow and learn more., but you don’t have to wait to know that you are perfect and ready now.
The other piece that we tend to do as humans, is to look to others to measure our self worth. Why would we do that? Every one is created unique. You are not that other person, so why would you compare yourself to them?
Embrace all of who you are. Even the parts you don’t like or are embarrassed about, it is all of you. Start now. Let the stories of your past go, you are no longer that person. They were experiences that helped make you who you are today.
Love who you are today! Embrace all of who you are right now in this moment.
