Even the smallest acts of kindness can touch someone's life in such a profound way and you may never really know the full impact.
I have been chatting with this woman who works in the grocery store for about 6 months or so. She comes up and asks questions and I stop and do what I can. She asks advice or how to do things.
Today she came up to me in tears thanking me for helping her move foward and she shared her story with me. She had been struggling with her health, her husbands health, the fact that her husband lost his job, her faith and overall feeling so overwhelemed it was hard for her to even get up and go to work. Despite the fact that her husband is still looking for work, her back is still out and that finances are a problem, she looked radient! She looked years younger, stood taller and there was a sparkle in her eyes.
She shared how inspired she was to make some serious changes in her life, start a gratitude practice and is starting to learn to love herself. All from a few short conversations we had over the few months she has been approaching me.
I was so humbled and astounded how much change she created in her life with just a few snipits of my time now and then. She was so grateful and full of tears and love that it made my heart feel like it was going to explode.
I reminded her that she was the one doing the work and making the changes. She teared up and thanked me, gave me a big hug. She told me that I helped inspire her and for that she loved me and had me in her prayers. Again, it was as if I could not breathe. I could not take credit for the fact that she wanted the change, approached me and made the changes. The universe did a good job of making sure our paths crossed at the right time.
If just taking a moment with someone can make that much difference, think what would happen if we all did that every day. Just a thought.
