This morning I sat at my desk in tears. I was moved and my heart hurt. It was not how I intended on starting my day. I had just finished a wonderful CanDoBe Team meeting that is always inspiring, full of laughter and true caring for each other. I was excited about opening the doors to the community to the public and felt so alive. Yet, here I was with my heart aching and tears rolling down my face.
What caused this reaction in me was not something Ihad not seen before, I had. I had been victim to it and unfortunately a few times, the perpetrator of it. I know it happens every day and not only to children but to adults.
My friend had sent me a video that shows bullying from a different perspective. It depicted bullying as done by adults. The same things that happen to children in the halls of school, happened to this character in the halls of his office. Seeing adults do it somehow made it so much more worse.
Yet bullying does happen to children and adults. It can be as simple as snapping at someone and putting them down. It can done to another by preying on their anxieties, taking credit for someone's work, setting someone up for failure or just being a mean person.
Somehow seeing the same actions that we see kids do, done as adults shows how horrible they really are. As well as the silent prison the victim is in.
