Why do you spend so much time worrying about other peoples happiness and needs only to sacrifice your own? Time spent waiting for others, care taking, worrying and so much more, yet finding yourself overwhelmed and exhausted. Not having enough time for proper rest, snapping at the kids, rushing from place to place and being spread so thin that you forget the simplest things.

This was part of a conversation I had with a client. In that coaching call, I realized how easy it is for people to forget that they need to live their lives. You are not responsible for anyone else’s life unless it is a child. Everyone is on their own personal journey no matter how it looks to you. Being a good friend, sister, brother, wife or husband is a good thing. It is when we do so much for others and forget to take care of ourselves, that it becomes a problem. lca-worried

I can see how easy it is to get off track. You want to make it easier on the ones you care for, so you will go the extra steps. You are a good person. Before you know it, you wonder how life got so stressful and overwhelming.

This is a lesson in mindfulness. When you feel that pull or overwhelm, stop and breathe. Be in the moment right then and go inside. Check in with yourself and see how you really are feeling without the noise of the world intruding. Take away that “should” list and just be. The more mindful you are in your choices, the smoother life will be. Check to make sure that you are doing it for the right reason, not because you think you should.

It’s your life and you need to take care of yourself or in the end you won’t be any good to yourself or others.
