The Power of Joy is such that it can create great change in the world!

“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” ― E.E. Cummings

I have been noticing how one’s mood can impact another person’s mood. I went through a tough four days last week where my mood was low, my stress very high and my body did not feel physically well. I am at the core, a very happy person. So I did not let my low mood get me down, I continued to find joy in small things and notice the miracles around me. I also engaged in laughter.

Yet it was not until a few days later when I was feeling fully like myself, that I noticed the effect the low mood had on me. Once the good mood returned things were easier to accomplish, my stress level lowered remarkably and I noticed my team mates moods improved. I realized my low mood had cast a blah mood all over despite my attempts to be cheerful and ride out the less than desirable mood.

lifecoach-usa.com - joyI knew I needed to get back to my natural state of joy. I came across this video about photographing people’s joy. Some jumped up and down, others shyly smiled, others laughed and many other ways of joy being expressed. Joy is contagious. It is the kind of thing you do want to catch. It is the same with a low mood.

If your mood is low and you just turn up the corners of your mouth for a few minutes, you will begin to feel better. Your brain starts to make serotonin (the brain’s feel good juice). So if you watch a video of joy, laughter and smiles, your mouth will turn up and soon you will have direct access to your joy.

The power of joy is huge!

  • I love Soul Pancake. Thanks for sharing this video. It was fun watching the different expressions of joy. I especially liked those who danced…for that too is how I express my joy. Your post reminds me of something I heard Oprah say once…”You are responsible for the energy you bring into the room”. I try to stay mindful of that especially on days when I am feeling blah. I don’t want to infect others with my negative energy.

  • Something that I have written today is on the similar lines as well. I firmly believe if one wants to stay happy, one needs to find their happiness themselves. Its no where else but within. Thanks!

  • I so agree with you, Michelle! I’ve had a couple of low days this week, but I’ve managed to flash a smile to at least one of my family members and it has made them a little happier. That can be contagious…it’s made me happy all over again!

  • What a great post and I love the video. Brought some extra joy to my evening! When I start to get down, I try and do something silly or fun to lift my spirits which in turn pumps up those around me.
